Sustainable
Winery Practice for March
Installing
skylights in all new roof projects

Skylights
in the cellars at BARGETTO WINERY
Sunlight
is free and saves on electricity. Skylights help by reducing electrical
lighting
needs which in turn cuts down on global warming. In several sections
of the winery,
including the laboratory, fermentation room and tasting room we
have had
skylights for decades. In our new roof over the barrel aging area
of the winery we have installed two new skylights.
This year
as we replace the 62– year–old cedar shingle roof our
plan is to install four new skylights. These skylights will provide
free and fuller lighting for the cellar; while cutting down significatly
on electrical lighting in the main wine cellar.
This is good
for our monthly bills and for the environment.
