Color: Magenta, color of new Regan red wines

Vine Stage: Leaf senescence, leaves turn a golden color and fall
to the ground as vines move into dormancy.
As the
days shorten and temperatures drop, green leaves turn a yellow-gold
color and fall off the vines. This process is known as senescence
and it identifies a vine moving towards full dormancy. In this
way, the vines become prepared for the cold, wet winter ahead.
(By way of contrast, when a grapevine is grown in a tropical climate,
it becomes evergreen and yields three crops per year!)
