color: Purple, the color of ripening Pinot Noir

Vine Stage: Veraison (Pinot Noir)
Veraison
is the third major development stage in the growing season, after
bud-break and bloom. In white varieties (like Chardonnay), it
is identified by a softening and a translucence of the berries.
In red varieties, veraison is seen when the berries develop purple
color.
Once
veraison arrives, the winegrower knows that harvest is only 10-12
weeks away.
